Karan Sunil Joisher is a highly motivated and skilled MSCS student at Northeastern University, actively seeking SDE intern opportunities for Summer 2023. He is passionate about software development, systems programming, and tools development, with a goal of creating performant and easy-to-use tools that leverage modern hardware to improve the overall computing experience. Karan has 2.94 years of relevant experience, having previously worked as an Application Developer at Barclays, where he developed Spring Boot APIs, AWS microservices, and in-house tools to deliver innovative tech solutions for customer repayment journeys. He gained a 5x improvement in API response times by making downstream API calls asynchronous and parallel and implemented a performance logging and monitoring library to track API performance. He also developed AWS microservices to create collection cases for delinquent accounts received via Apache Kafka events, created CloudFormation templates to deploy auto-scaling ECS clusters, MSK clusters, RDS, and EC2 machines on the AWS cloud platform, and implemented AWS Lambdas for rotating credentials and replicating EBS volumes to backup data. Karan has also worked on computer vision and machine learning problems for self-driving cars while working as an intern at Accelo Innovation. He developed a depth mapping module (using stereo-vision) in Python and C using a two-camera setup and integrated Tensorflow's object detection with the depth mapping module to identify objects and calculate their distance from the vehicle. Karan holds a Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.) in Computer Engineering from K.J. Somaiya College of Engineering and a Master's degree in Computer Science from Northeastern University, which he is set to complete in December 2024. He also holds a Computer Science degree from Ramnivas Ruia Junior College, where he achieved a 92% grade.
